In 2010, an explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico caused the largest marine oil spill in history. In 2014, Richard donated this polished bronze dolphin sculpture to the city of Orange Beach, Alabama. There was a contest among the school children in Orange Beach to name the dolphin. Hope was the winner.
Sadly, a few months later the sculpture was vandalized and severely damaged. The city leaders made the decision to not only repair Hope but asked Richard to add two young dolphins to the original bronze.
Today Hope resides in front of the city’s beautiful new Arts Center.
