Richard’s subjects often reflect where he lives & what he loves. First Kiss is a perfect example of this. San Diego County, with its breathtaking beaches and the vast Pacific Ocean, is the ideal backdrop for imagining enchanting mermaids residing in its deep waters.

​Why the dolphin? Richard explains with a whimsical touch: if a prince isn’t available to kiss the mermaid (they never seem to be around when you need them!!), then naturally, a dolphin would step in to steal the opportunity.
